Chicago Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution
Since 1837 the Office of the City Clerk has been responsible for collecting, docketing, and securely storing the City’s official records, namely City Council legislation. In addition to a multitude of other services the Office of the City Clerk provides public access to legislation, laws, records, and reports.
Types of records to be found in the City Clerk’s collections include the Chicago Municipal Code; the Journal of the Proceedings; legislative documents from 1944 to the present; monthly reports of City Council Committee meetings, Committee pamphlets; the Rules of Order and Procedure for the Chicago City Council, audio, and video recordings of the City Council; histories of municipal elected officials; Mayoral executive orders; correspondence files, and many other series.
